It was more of a "racetrack family" gathering rather than a regular boxing crowd.

There was some minor advertising for the event but for the most part, the dense crowd was there via word of mouth. Ortiz also got off three punches towards Lopez when he was sitting in a chair and a couple of those connected. Lopez claimed foul, (which was later disallowed) and Ortiz had a few choice words to say to Lopez after the race.

Ortiz slightly brushed Lopez and his mount when he went zipping by while riding the favorite to win by open lengths. When thinking of jockey skirmishes one might also think of the recent fight between Jose Ortiz and Paco Lopez at Gulfstream Park on February 26. While security was breaking up the fight, Calvin pleaded with them to let him go so he could "kill" his rival. I'll skip a lot of the ugly details but let's just say Calvin really lost his cool and the next sentence kind of sums the entire melee up. The brawl was broadcast live on National TV and things got pretty unpleasant in the winner's circle. Borel waited for Castellano after the race and the two exchanged pleasantries. Miner and the duo lost all their momentum while making a move in the lane because of the chaos. Garcia was barely able to stay aboard Romp but he impeded Borel and his mount, A.U. Castellano made a poor riding decision while piloting Prince Will I Am and banged into Romp, who was ridden by Martin Garcia. One famous altercation we might remember would be of Calvin Borrell stalking Javier Castellano right after the $500,000 Breeders' Cup Marathon in 2010 at Churchill Downs. I'm sure we've all heard of, or maybe even seen jockeys confronting one another after an eventful race.
